POSITIVE CASES ON SARK
There are approximately 15 cases of COVID in isolation. This figure may not be accurate as time in isolation varies depending on circumstances such as asymptomatic and negative LFT tests from day 5 and 6, and individuals are not reporting their isolation status to the Medical Centre, which is no longer a legal obligation.
Anyone receiving a positive LFT result should:
• Notify the Medical centre by email: practice.manager@sarkmedical.co.uk or telephone: 832045 and States of Guernsey via either the clinical helpline (01481 220001 or 01481 220002) or the online form at https://www.gov.gg/covidnotification
• All positive cases will be requested to stay at home for 10 days with early release if they are asymptomatic and LFT negative from day 5 and again 24 hours later. This is voluntary – we are asking the community to work together to keep everyone safe.
• You will no longer be automatically offered a confirmatory PCR test when you report a positive LFT, unless it is a medical necessity.
• You will be asked to notify your close contacts
SARK VACCINATION PROGRAMME UPDATE
Sark Residents aged 75 and over will be offered a further booster in May/June 2022. The Sark Medical Team will contact those eligible nearer the time.
370 booster vaccinations have been administered to islanders, but despite the Medical Team doing everything they can to ensure every resident has had the opportunity to receive their boosters on-island, there may be some individuals who have not had their boosters. Whilst the vaccine does not prevent people catching COVID-19, it does prevent individuals from suffering from the serious side effects of, or dying as a result of, the virus.
Owing to the short shelf-life of the vaccination vials, it is not practical to retain a supply for a small number of individuals who have not come forward for their boosters. Therefore, the Pandemic Committee urge those who have not had their boosters to attend the drop-in vaccination clinics held in Guernsey. Residents are reminded that Sark Shipping offer discounts to those travelling to Guernsey for purposes of a medical nature.
Details of the times and locations of Guernsey drop-in clinics can be found here:
